Another Post About Hockey

I'm starting to love hockey more and more and I even got to see some of the Av's game the other night. Awesome. Anyway, I saw this commercial and I know what I'm doing new year's day now. Last year's classic was awesome, and hopefully it will snow in Chicago this year so this one will be just as cool.

Oh, and I included the second video because that is kind of what our family was like at the hospital with Trey last week, and we already have skates waiting for him to put on as soon as he starts to walk. He really is the BEST BABY IN THE WORLD!!

Final Thoughts

I'm sure you're all dying to know how I feel about the results of the election, and I think I'm finally ready to sum it all up and put it aside.

Quite frankly, I'm disappointed. I can't believe that there were so many people knowingly or unknowingly who would vote for a self-proclaimed Marxist. This is very indicative of where we're at as a country, and the good thing about this is now we know what we're up against. We really know what the majority of the country believes and now we can get to work changing people's hearts by first knowing exactly what you believe and why you believe it and then through honest and civil discussions with friends (which also means you have to make friends with people you don't agree with.)

This is not going to come by saying this is not my President, by saying the election was stolen (even though there is a lot of questions with ACORN), or by saying his birth certificate was forged. How often did you dismiss a persons argument when they said Bush stole the election? We lost a battle get over it. Honestly, who really wanted John McCain anyway? We knew there would be similar problems with him that we are now going to face with Obama. I would rather not fight those battles against someone who claims to be a conservative.

I know many of you who are frightened and disheartened by the threats from the opposition to Prop 8. I'm disgusted by it, and cannot believe the hypocrisy threaded throughout their "logic." I don't want to be anything like these people in crying foul when votes are cast by the majority of citizens to decide something different from what we believe. I don't want to be like the people who blame all their problems on the fact that Bush was elected. The ones gave that much power to Bush are the ones who view Obama as their savior and their only hope. I am in control of my fate, and no matter who is president I will continue to make my life what I want it to be.

Now let me say I'm done with parties. (Not real parties. You can still invite me to those. i.e. I really need some invites.) I'm done with political parties. Democrats and Republicans. I really believe the only thing they've accomplished as of late is to divide people who should be united. I saw a nasty comments fight on facebook about whether or not you can be a good Mormon and a democrat. It is horrible that we can be so disunited by a title when we should rather be united on principles. Let the Lord judge which principles we really uphold on an individual basis.

Finally, don't dismiss the writing on the wall. I believe a lot of the stuff we are currently are signs of the last days, but we shouldn't dwell on these entirely. Signs were given as a warning to get our lives in order and to remind us we need to share, and they aren't intended to scare us. We have a prophet to guide us. I love this quote from Pres. Monson.

"The past is behind--we must learn from it. The future is ahead--we must prepare for it. The present is now—we must live in it."

It's time to move forward, and I'm ready to move forward with hope for the future. I found this scripture and I realized it's not just hope, but a promise that we can go forward with.

Hold on to Your Butts, I'm Ticked!

So I've been pretty mellow the past few weeks. I've refused to talk about the election because I've talked about the issues for 2 years, and if you don't know where I stand then you don't know me at all.

(Oh and before I forget the only slightly less well-known blunder than never going in against a Sicilian when death is on the line is this: Never go against Mindy in racquetball the night before an election when a democrat is favored to win.)

There is one issue however that pisses the h*** out of me, and I'm going to rant about it for a while. Hang on though because this is a more important issue than you think. (Sorry for those of you with short attention spans, i.e. me, but please read on.)

So I'm starting a new asthma study and it's one that will help get a generic brand of a drug on the market. I was talking with the study supervisor and I mentioned how the last time I got an inhaler they didn't have any of the generic brands and so instead of $7 it cost me $32 even with insurance.

She then asked me if they told me why and then she said it was because of they aren't allowed to use chlorofluorocarbons in the inhalers anymore and the generic brands will take a while to catch up with the name brands. Chlorofluorocarbons deplete the OZONE! My medicine cost almost 5 times as much because of GLOBAL WARMING policies. Not only does it cost more it is a smaller container and the chlorofluorocarbons were the propellant and whatever they replaced it with doesn't work as well.

So before you blow me off for griping about a couple of bucks, which I don't care that much about because fortunately I don't need to use my inhaler that often, let me tell you why this such a huge problem. (By the way, I'm actually against Bush's prescription drug program that got them to $7 but that's because I don't believe government should be involved at all in health care.)

One of the greatest benefits of having a free market society brought about by the US constitution are the medical advancements that have occurred in the past 200 years. These types of environmental policies will set these advancements back or at least hinder any future developments and innovations.

The ones making these policies claim to care about individuals. They claim to care about the poor, and yet they make policies that make it hard for other drug companies to compete and drive down the costs of medications. They say they care about the people without insurance, and yet if they kept their hands out of it a lot of people would be able to afford the medicine without it.

Also, you remember how people think the only reason for DDT was to take the spots of our apples, and we didn't care about those spots because we like birds and bees better? Well, DDT is also a cheap way to control malaria outbreaks in Africa, but that's still no reason to kill birds.

The whole point behind this is the people who ban these things and pass legislation based on faulty conclusions (and a lot of outright lies) about the most unpredictable of the sciences could cause disastrous results for everyone else especially the poor. There is really no way to accurately predict the weather past 10 days and it's arrogant for us to believe we can really change the weather by passing laws to limit chlorofluorocarbons in INHALERS.

It's atheistic by nature to believe that we can control the weather, and trying to do that at the expense of the well being of mankind is, in my belief, outright evil. The Lord commanded us to take can of the things we have stewardship over, but we cannot let others convince us that we should care more about the environment then God's children.

All things in the earth will pass away but we are eternal beings and I think we have more responsibilities to take care of each other than to worry about the sea levels that may or may not rise.

I actually disagree with both candidates on their views on this, both support a cap and trade tax on carbons, but it will be much worse under Obama, and he has proven he has an utter disregard for human life, and I don't believe McCain will pass legislation on the environment in a bad economy.

Bottom line is this is just another way to redistribute the wealth and we all know how I feel about that. Please choose wisely and choose the things that will keep people free to choose, and not just between generic and brand name drugs.

Oh this commercial ticks me off too. Talk about scare tactics. Ticked. Ticked. Ticked. Ticked.

Foooball!!!

Dang I was going to post about this, but Victoria beat me to it. My niece loves football! I couldn't be prouder. It's so funny. I even got a little video, it's not the best, but you get the idea! Oh and this was a repeat of a high school game, it doesn't matter what it is she'll sit there with her eyes wide open watching it with a huge smile on her face!!

Saving You Money

There is a drive through Starbucks that I drive past every day to go to work, and every morning I am so tempted to get a caramel apple cider. It's seriously the best thing ever and since it's been so cold lately I've been even more tempted, but I'm always late, the line is always long, and I don't feel like paying 4 bucks for hot apple juice.

Well, I figured it couldn't be that difficult to make so I looked it up on the internet and I found this courtesy of Recipe Gal. Now I just need to get a new mug to put it in every morning since my old one melted in the microwave. Whoops.

Starbucks' Caramel Apple Cider is truly the nectar of the gods. I asked a Starbucks' employee the other day how he makes it and this is what he told me for a large size:
Cinnamon syrup- a couple of squirts (sold in the store)
Treetop premium apple juice
Whipped cream
Caramel syrup drizzled on top

Blend cinnamon syrup with apple juice. Top with whipped cream and carmel syrup.

And now you don't have to get that icky feeling when you go into that sin hut.

Could Hockey Become Mainstream if Palin is Elected!?!

If this whole VP thing doesn't work out, I think she should run for NHL commissioner. Heck, I would vote for her for president on the platform that she wants more Americans to be introduced to hockey. If it didn't cost so much for teams to travel to Alaska I think the NHL would be justified in giving Alaska the Thrashers. Maybe that's why she's for drilling.

I'm sure some people have been a little confused about what Barack Obama really stands for. I get confused when one minute he's voting to not drill, but then says he's open to all solutions. Or when he says he'll meet with any leader at any time, but then says he never actually said that.
Well, if you really want to know the kind of person he is, and why he wouldn't have a problem speaking with Ahmadinejad you can now see exactly who he associates with.

As If The Goverment Messing In Business Weren't Bad Enough

Wasn't sure which blog to post this on, so this is the default.

So I'm against government interference in business most of the time, but Gary Bettman, ruiner of the NHL, and one of the perennially awful teams in that league (I like Rick DiPietro though) shouldn't be allowed anywhere near that Wall Street bell. Although it's kind of fitting that they should be the ones to open the trading one of the days of one of the worst weeks ever.

Maybe I will spend a day on one of the sports blogs explaining why I can't stand Bettman and why the NHL needs a new commissioner.

My Blog Has Become Obsolete

So Jordan just started a new blog 5280 Sports. Guess what it's about. (To avoid confusion the website name is spelled out as fiftytwoeightysports.blogspot just in case you ever try to go to it without the link.) We'll see if we can get it up and running, but in the meantime I realized since I'm now a contributer to a blog for politics and a blog for sports I may have run out of things to talk about in this blog. I may have to start talking about myself more. Sorry guys.

What Really Matters

I had a great weekend. I got to play the organ at the temple on Friday, spent some time talking with my dad, played racquetball and tennis on Saturday, went to the General Relief Society broadcast Saturday night (with pie after), had a great fast Sunday today, didn't watch the Broncos, and I really accomplished a lot for my callings and some other stuff I've been worried about. I even came to peace for the most part with what congress is trying to shove down our throats. Well, I at least feel like I can handle whatever happens as a result of their incompetence.

Well, it really was a great weekend that made me feel so happy that I haven't even felt hungry since Thursday. (Don't worry I ate. See PIE in the previous paragraph.)

I think part of this is because I didn't have a laptop most of the weekend. I took it over to my dad to look at on Thursday because of what I thought was a little problem with it and I left it with him overnight because i didn't think I would need it. Well the problem wasn't major, but it wasn't so little. So after several hours on the phone with microsoft (I'm still a PC) my dad was able to get a lot of the errors worked out when I picked it back up Sat, but by then I was reading a book that I couldn't put down (Book of Lies and I finished in 3 days) and so I didn't really care to hop on the internet. (BTW Thanks Dad for helping me out!!!)

So, I finally got on tonight and started looking at my reader. I might be done with this now, because after having such a peaceful weekend I became stressed again as 280 items of worldly crap came flooding into my browser. I won't even mention my horrible fantasy football team. Well, I finally cleaned out my reader and dropped all my wide receivers, and I'm glad I left the updates from the church websites for last because the feeling that came over me after reading all the garbage was a huge contrast to what I have been feeling all weekend. It wasn't bad stuff in the reader, but it wasn't important. I guess I need to remember this contrast when I start to get caught up in all the noise that's going on around me.

I'm so glad I was able to have the gospel in my life this weekend, because not only did I just feel better, but I felt braver, more organized, more creative, and better prepared. So I'm going to try and be better about putting the more important things first and cut a lot of the garbage out, but I had to make sure I put some Jazz "fans" in their place which I think is ok to put in my "not so important but definitely necessary" column.

Rivalry Renewed!

So the HSM3 video has sparked a little back and forth via the Nugg Doctor and the True Blue Jazz Hands.

First of all their response is pretty weak. I'm pretty sure it was a Nuggets fan who coined the term Thuggets, and who doesn't love Birdman?! At least our guys can dance. Can anyone say Ostertag? And I would much rather have my Thuggets than this guy.

So now I'm not sure if I have posted this before, but if this just shows how inadequate even the Jazz organziation feels when compared to Denver.



I swear to you this isn't photoshopped (I'm not that good at it) and it was originally posted on the team store website, but I was able to get the screen shot of it a little while later.

I know it's a little hard to see, but who's skyline is that? It's not the Salt Lake skyline. That's right they stole the Denver skyline for their website. (Notice the Wells Fargo building and the Elitches tower.) Their skyline isn't good enough and as much as they want to be their superior neighbor to the east they fail in every way. Especially in being a fan.

Only in Utah will you go to a game where 2 fans of the opposing team cheer louder than the entire arena. It's the only place where you will be taunted for cheering for the Nuggets by a guy completely decked out in Denver Broncos gear.

And my favorite instance of bad fanship was after Kleiza dropped 40 points on the Jazz last February everyone in Salt Lake called the sports radio shows and said that the Western Conference appearance the previous year was a fluke.

So enjoy your pseudo-success now Jazz fans because no matter what happens with the Nuggets you will always be an inferior sports city with inferior fans, inferior mountains and inferior skyscrapers.

Art?

I wasn't sure if this should go on the political blog or not, but it's interesting politically or not.

I watched this video and at first it looks like the rantings of a crazy old man, but if you read numbers 22 and 23 from the 1963 Communist Goals entered into the congressional record then it's actually pretty easy to agree with him. (And no I am not a conspiracy theorist, I just find this stuff interesting and I like making these kind of connections. This can also be found in W. Cleon Skousen's book, "The Naked Communist.")

"22) Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to 'eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings,' substitute shapeless, awkward, and meaningless forms.

An Open Letter To Referee Ed Hochuli

Dear, Dear, Dear, Mr. Ed,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

If it weren't for you our nightmares about that ball not going forward would be a lot scarier.

Don't worry. Even though we all know it was a bad call most people are chalking this up as a bad rule pointed out by human error and amplified by the time left on the clock. These things happen, and we applaud you for admitting your mistake right then and there. I think this is less your fault then it is Karma's fault anyway.

Now we don't really believe in Karma, but with such evidence as the Madden Curse we believe there might be football Karma.

The Chargers have only been relevant the past few years because of Ladanian Tomlinson. Look, Phillip Rivers really isn't any good and Norv Turner is a whiner and every knows it. They lose 2 players and they fall apart. The only reason why they stayed in the game was because the Broncos defense is bad and Sporles saved their butts.

Now look at the Broncos. How can you not like them this year? They finally did what the Nuggets should do and got rid of the trouble makers. They got rid of Sauerbraun, Henry, and Walker. It was finally rid of all the baggage and it's so fun to cheer for guys like Cutler, who's overcoming diabetes, and Eddie Royal. These are hard workers who play because they love the game, and now they are being rewarded by the football gods. (You also have to love a team who goes for 2 in that kind of situation.) So really you got it right because the better team won the game, just like it's supposed to be.

So don't worry about the whiners, and if you have to take some time off for a while feel free to come visit Denver. Not only will we accept you here, we may even throw you up on our shoulders and carry you around downtown. We may even let you be an honorary umpire in a Rockies game, and we'll put in a good word for you to make sure you are working when we come down to San Diego.

Happy Birthday to My Pydota!

So I've lost my mind to politics and so I couldn't get a card out in time nor could I get her address without being obvious about what I wanted it for, but I wanted to take time out to wish a Happy Birthday to my best friend Jamie!!!

We've been friends since Y group freshman year and she's always helped me through the hard times like when Napster got shut down. She helped me overcome my snood addiction and she was always there telling me to buy the fruit bar instead of the ice cream sandwich from the vending machine. She really saved me from the freshman 4,000.

You really made college fun for me, and I'm so glad we're still close friends and you're the only one I can say "Dis is a cash only line" to and get a laugh! And boy does she sure know how to tap dance in the street, not for money.

Thanks for getting me through the cilantro pancakes and just for making everything fun! I know I can count on you for anything, and I'm sad you're so far away now. Although, now I have an excuse to go to New York and go to the Little Shop Around the Corner!

Bob Lob Law's Long Blogs Blah Blah

Ok so this is the 3rd time today I've posted, and I still feel like I'm not able to share all the stuff I'm finding out right now. So I'm giving another plug for my shared google reader items. This time though there is a widget for it right on my blog, so now you can read all the stuff I read. The best part is it's not all politics!!!!!! The Liberal Left is Transparant to the Democrats Too

This is a great article on why a democrat mother is voting for McCain/Palin this fall. She says it much better than anyone I've heard so far and it's absolutely worth a read. She is also from Colorado, and I'm almost sure her son with down syndrome was in the after school program I worked at several years ago.

Oh the other big point to take from this article is that the Democrat Party is not the same as it used to be. As Glenn Beck puts it, "It's been hijacked." It's been taken over by self proclaimed progressives, and if you want a history project do some research on the progressive party of the early 20th century (which was started by Teddy Roosevelt, but it was largely rejected by Republicans as a whole). Woodrow Wilson and Margaret Sanger, founder of planned parenthood, and her views on eugenics are particularly interesting.

Was I The Only One Who Saw Juno?

I really thought this crazy, mad-cap, feel-good film had been seen by a lot more people than me. But maybe I'm the only one who saw it, because I thought teenage pregnancy was supposed to be FUN!!

I also thought that the end of the movie showed that a successful professional woman could adopt a baby and be a single mom while still being successful even without a low-life husband to help her out. Oh and I remember hearing one time that it should be ok for 14 year olds to get birth control and abortions without a parents permission because they were old enough to make their own decisions.

Hmmmmm...

But now we are led to believe that Sarah Palin is to blame for her "Juneau Juno's" pregnancy because she doesn't stay home with her children and she shouldn't be running for office so she can spend more time with her family and her special needs child who statistics show most people would have aborted anyway.

Hmmmmm...

The more I think about it the more I believe that John McCain isn't a senile old fool who doesn't know what he's doing, but he is very shrewed and calculating in his decisions.

Some will say he didn't know about the pregnancy, but there is no way he didn't. And whether intentional or unintentional I think the genius of this pick is not that she is the most conservative candidate on a presidential ticket since Reagan, or that she took down the Republican leader in Alaska on ethics after she was put in a position of power to try and get her to conform to the party and having a person like that who will hold McCain's feet to the fire is the only thing that will bring the real conservatives in to support the semi-liberal presidential candidate, but it is that the hypocrisy of the Democratic/Progressive party is now exposed on such a grand scale that you have to be an idiot not to see it. The best part is no one had to point it out (even though that is what I'm doing in this post).

Biden said she was hot, and the media is criticizing her for just being a pretty face and then showing pictures of her calfs. (sexist!) Now it's not our fault that they haven't had any good looking calfs in their party, and I would bet my life that Palin would never stay with an adulterer just to keep power. I would also like to know how Hilary became the champine for women's lib and Sandra Day O'Conner gets ridiculed, or how they are all for a black man becoming powerful but yet they HATE Clarence Thomas.

Hmmmmm....

Obama said she was inexperienced. (We all know experience is his greatest trait.) She is the only one on either ticket that has executive experience. In other words she is the only one who's been in charge of anything. And the best part is when she says she will cut excess government spending you know she will because on the first day of the job she put the old governor's private jet up for sale on Ebay. She accomplished more to cut government spending in one day then the other 3 senators combined in all their years in the senate.

Hmmmmm....

So needless to say I am all aboard on the McCain Train, and I still struggle with some of his policies and I will do my best to make sure those are fought against if he ever tries to put them in place, but he does have one of the most important qualifications a president needs and he proved it this weekend.

He sure knows how to pick GREAT people to put around him.

More Crazies From Hot Air TV

So I'm one of the ones that believes that people who feel the need to swear, especially in their casual conversations, are ignorant and don't have a very large vocabulary. Having said that I really debated putting these videos on because there are a few sections where these activists show their true colors with their "colorful language," but fortunately they are brief moments. If you don't want to view it then I will give you a quick rundown, but these are what these people really believe, and it shows how quick they are to go with the crowd and agree with anything without researching or questioning.

These videos are pretty much freak shows for conservatives, entertaining but like the bearded lady or the dog with two heads, you wonder how in the world something like this could exsist and you usually have nightmares after.

So In the first video the guy is going around to see how many comforts these people want to give to guantanamo prisoners. He is getting them to sign a petition to give them Cinemax, and Netflix, and to have Jihad Olympics. Only one guy really questions it and that's mostly because he just doesn't think it's the right thing because the don't use afghan subtitles, but "if they did that would be great." I can't believe how far these people want to go to help known terrorists.



This next video he talks to several people about different things, but one couple actually believes that police work should be like jury duty, and everyone should get a chance to serve, including "undocumented workers." So I think people stopped reading my blog which kind of renders my cry against socialism a little futile, but I digress. They've finally done the research for the most important issue of our day. What do you call the fizzy, sweet drinks that come in 12 oz. cans in packs of 6?

Here's a relevant protest for this post, and far more fitting for the Pepsi Center than anything else from this week. I may have to go down and join these guys, I really do want it to come back.

An Ad Everyone Needs to See and May Not Get To.

Here's a video that everyone needs to see especially since the Obama campaign has been trying to pull the ad from TV stations. I really would rather attack his policies and voting record rather than his background, but it's important to know Obama is supported by people with these kinds of agendas. Hopefully, after seeing this video people will start looking at his policies and ideals a little bit more in depth instead of just wishing, and hoping, and thinking and dreaming and changing. If you know the song then you know that really doesn't make anything happen.

So I guess I'm going to dedicate this week to political blogging, especially since my friends decided to leave me here with all the crazies and go to Lake Powell for the week and so I have a lot of time on my hands. (Darn job that keeps me from being able to take an entire week off). Anyway, as much as I have been dreading this week for the past few months I have discovered that it is an incredibly important week (and next week too) because you will find out exactly what the candidates believe and who they are.

I have been very involved for the past 2 1/2 years finding out what the issues are and how each position fits into my core beliefs. I really want to share the things I've discovered so it can help my friends make their own informed decisions. If you have other views that's fine, I just want to make sure both sides have been heard, and if you think there's a side I haven't heard yet that will help me be more informed in my decisions feel free to share it with me.

I Thought This Was a Joke

Ok I read in a few blogs that people were trying to levitate the Mint. I didn't realize they really tried to do it. I love the added soundtrack because it reminds me of GOB.

In case you're wondering where I'm finding these there have been 2 blogs that have good conservative coverage of the convention. One is Rocky Mountain Right and Michelle Malkin's blog. I'll try and add the interesting things I find to this blog.

Also the guy in the green shirt with the hat that starts the "raise the roof" chant, I'm pretty sure he's a conservative just making fun of these people. The end of the interview with the guy from my previous post mentioned being "punked" by guys taking pictures with him who didn't really like him at all.

A Little Lesson in Vocab

Maybe I'm the only one who's really into this stuff, but Peter Boyle had a man on his show this morning who verbally attacked Michelle Malkin (conservative blogger) and nearly started a riot. He was saying that it was her fault and her "bodyguards" (fellow bloggers helping her out) where trying to keep him from speaking.

This guy is a 9/11 "truther" and when asked to describe her not only did he say she had see-through skin, and blue veins, and looked like the star wars princess about to cast a spell on him, he also called her a neo-con. First of all, I don't take people seriously who use demonizing adjectives to describe people. It immediately shows me that they have an agenda and that they don't really care about discussing the real issues we need to talk about to make the country better.

The other thing he called is something that you can also use to completely discredit someone in an argument like this. He called her a neo-con. If you aren't familiar with the correct use of the term because it's been distorted and it's being used as a derogatory to describe a super right wing conservative, it actually means a liberal who became a conservative and is actually still somewhat liberal in their views.

So anytime I hear someone use this now I know they haven't done their homework and they probably aren't too interested in having a discussion, but they are just interested in bashing other people. See for yourself.

A Daily Insight Into My Life

So here's the deal. Since I'm lazy and I don't take very many pictures I've found something that can give you a little tidbit into my life everyday. My Google Reader Shared Page!!!! This is the stuff I look at on the internet. There's a lot of funny things, and interesting things I want to share and now I have a way to do it without a boring post. I've got everything including local news stories, BYU Devotionals, political insights, hockey and other sports news, financial tips, and other funny, funny posts. Celtics and Sucky Circuses

I didn't really want to use the word "sucky," but the alliteration was way better.

So, I've kind of hated Boston and their fans for a few months now and I was so happy when the Patriots lost the Super Bowl. However, I was really excited to see the Celtics win last night, and I'll just count down the reasons.

1. I hate the Lakers, and it was so fun to watch them get slaughtered.

2. I've always liked Paul Pierce. He's kind of a hard guy to hate. I also liked seeing Big Baby come off the bench and celebrate with everyone.

3. It wasn't the Spurs, Lakers, or Pistons winning it all for a change. And I'm sooo glad it wasn't the Jazz!

4. I have been saying that Boston fans have been all high and mighty about their teams and I have not liked them lately, but they were a GREAT crowd last night. It wasn't the crowds of the Richy Rich's who go to games because it's the "in" thing to do, and they can afford it. They were acutallycheering for their team, and that's the first time in a long time I've really seen a crowd affect a game so much. I also loved that they were singing "Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye" with over 5 minutes left in the game.

5. As disappointing as the Nuggets have been as of late, watching the Celtics gave me hope for my team. Here were 3 guys who were superstars on other teams, but just didn't have enough talent on their teams, in cities that they loved and for the most part were pretty loyal to. But they were finally given an opportunity to win and be great and they proved you can win with a bunch of superstars, but you have to want to win so badly it hurts. You especially have to give it to Paul Pierce for sticking with the team when they were sooooo horrible for soooo long. Anyway, it was really cool to see how much they wanted to play for the championship, but not for the fame. They proved they could score too, but they committed themselves to defense because they wanted to win so badly. KG would go days without sleeping, because he wanted it so much. I love how he described winning the championship like getting picked on by a kid for school for years and then finally being able to lay him out one day and say I'm not going to take it anymore. If the Nuggets could figure this out they could win, but alas herein lies the problem, but at least we know now it can be done.

6. Seeing those 3 guys win it after careers of disappointment reminded me so much of '97 and 2001. If you don't know the significance of those years then you don't know me. But watching the celebration and reading the Sports Guy's column about it from a diehard fans perspective made me feel as if I was watching John Elway holding his head in disbelief or watching Ray Borque finally lift the cup over his head. Not only did it remind me of those in particular, but it reminded me of 3OT in '96, the blowout in '98, and the division series sweep of the Phillies last fall. I wanted to go run out in the streets of downtown again and just high five everyone I saw. It just brought back all those feelings, and reminded me of why I love sports.

Now having given these reasons I want to say I still do not like the Red Sox or the Patriots. I actually might like the Bruins, but nobody in Boston cares about hockey anymore so it really doesn't matter.


NOW ON TO THE CIRCUSES!!!

So I only have two channels. Part of this is I don't want 5000 channels when all I need is 15-20, and there's nothing on in the summer anyway. Well I didn't get to read the paper this morning because I had to be at National Jewish at 6:30 this morning for an asthma study ($$) so I decided I'd sit down and skim through it tonight. So I just turned on the TV and I didn't want to watch Super Nanny, so I ended up turning it to Celebrity Circus. I never thought it was a great idea for a show in the first place, but this was about a million times worse than I thought it would be. Anyway, I just thought I would warn you.

So remember how I said I was reading the paper? Well I was looking through the comics, which for the most part aren't as good when you're not 10, and I cam across the Family Circus. Ok, this comic strip sucks. I'm ticked I didn't learn how to draw little children better or else I could have written stupid statements under my pictures and made a million dollars. Other than drawing it takes no talent to come up with that stuff, and he probably uses the same drawings over and over again. I'm sure you can use the same picture to say, "Mommy, we learned about the Decoration of Independence," "Daddy, we learned about the tina, the pinto, and the Dan Marino today," and for "Grandpa has hair in his ears." I'm also pretty sure I've heard President Bush say Decoration of Independence and nobody thought that was cute. In fact I'm sure it's on Harry Reid's list of why Bush should be impeached. Maybe he should of thrown a mommy in there.

Well, let's just say I'm done with all circuses. Greatest show on earth my eye. (Speaking of eye's, ESPN's Stuart Scott has a glass eye cause he got hit in the face with a football. I thought he looked different.)

A New Look

I'm sure you've noticed my blog is looking different now. I still struggle with photo shop so that picture is not as sharp as I would like it to be. Maybe I can have Jordan help me with it.

As I'm also sure you've noticed I haven't updated for a while. I think I say that every time I blog, and I promise every time I will blog more. I feel like this.
Now the difference is I used to say I just didn't have anything to write about, and I still don't have children or for some of you, built in blog topics, so really the reason is I just don't want to blog anymore. I'm having far too much fun in Denver. I also get a real newspaper now, mostly because I have a "breakfast nook" to read it in and I can go into work pretty much whenever I want now, so I'm starting to spend less time online.

So if you wish you heard more from me take an ad out in the paper and then I'll write a post just for you, or you can just deal with it and I'll blog when I feel like it. However, I'm open to blog topic suggestions and I'm familiar with topics of all varieties, including current events, so try me and I will write about it even if I hate it. For those of you who don't know I have fairly strong opinions so be warned you may not like what I have to say. Oh well.

I guess I can give you a little anecdote from my weekend. I went to a speed dating activity, and I think this might be the way to go. I eliminated tons of guys after 2 minutes including the first one. It was more like 30 secs actually. He told me he thought Denver was a dirty city, he hated hockey, and thought men's lacrosse was a girlie sport. (I immediately forgot his name, Jordan, otherwise I would show him to you so you could show him how girlie lacrosse players are). The only problem with speed dating though is 30 dates, and no dinner. Boo.

Stupid Rockies. I just saw they lost. Oh, and Get Smart comes out this weekend and this is only the 2nd movie I've truly been excited for a whole year to see. The other? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which did not disappoint, which will hopefully be the case for this one. If anyone can do justice to Don Adams' character it's Steve Carell. Well till next time.

5 Things I'd do as a Billionaire (This is the one I had a little fun with)

1. Buy all of the houses on my street and give one to each member of my family including my grandma, and then either make the extra one a guest house or tear it down and build an ice rink/roller rink and have disco skating on saturday nights.
2. Trade in my Kia Sportage, and buy a fully loaded Kia Sportage.
3. Visit all the temples, and church historic sights
4. Hire someone to design clothes for me so I won't have to go clothes shopping ever again.
And #5 is a little obsessive, but I think it would be so fun! I would buy the Utah Jazz and immediately give the team name to New Orleans. I would then change the name and colors of the team every year to something that has nothing to do with Utah, and I would make millions on all the merchandise the fans would have to buy each year to keep up. I would make myself the GM and fire Jerry Sloan and trade all the good players to the Bobcats for all their bad players and then trade their first round picks for the next 10 years to the Nuggets for JR Smith and Kenyon Martin. Then I would eventually end up with the team being called the Utah Supersonics (because that makes more sense than them being called the Jazz) and use the same logo as the Seattle team while insisting the entire time that I won't move the team, and then sell them to someone who will move them to Seattle within a year, (Just like Larry Miller did with the Golden Eagles hockey team) and then I'll go down in history as the worst GM/Owner in Sports history, but it will totally be worth it.

So much for April.

So sorry for my absence in the blogging world. I'm loving Denver, but it has made me a little busy. For one I've been hanging out with my new best friend Halle and I can't get enough of her. I could hang out with her all day, and she is so funny. I'll let Jayme brag about her, but here are some pictures I don't think she has that I just love. She makes the best faces.So anyway that is my niece, and we just play all day. I've also been busy working my temp job and trying to find a real job, and trying to find a roommate for an apartment I'm trying to move into. So if any of you can help with that it would be greatly appreciated. See there's a lot of trying going on, but not a whole lot happening.

So this is my life now and I'm loving it. Although I kind of miss listening to talk radio all day. That is one thing I do miss about my old job. I don't feel as informed anymore which is maybe why I don't have anything exciting to blog about. So for a lack of anything else to say, I give you my favorite video of all time, and it's even better with the slow motion replay!

Pike's Peak or Bust

There have been several times I have sat down at my computer and said I need to write a post. Then as I started writing I realized my life is boring and i have nothing to say. Well things have changed. I wanted to wait to announce this till it was official at work, but I have put in my 2 weeks notice and I am moving to Colorado for good!!!!It's been a long time coming, but it's finally time to go back. Clearly I miss it, and now that I've started liking baseball again I need to move back in time for opening day. So I don't have a job yet, but I do have a few options and should be employed within a few weeks of getting back. If any of you know of any jobs or if you know of any cute guys to set me up with pass it along, and then I'm sure I will have much more to blog about.

So I'm done obsessing over the presidential campaign, because I don't know what I'm going to do about it so I'm waiting to find out if anything new happens. I actually have found a candidate I'm interested in voting for. I heard him on Glenn Beck and he seems to have some good ideas. His name is Wayne Allen Root. He's a libertarian and there are some things I don't entirely agree with him on, but he seems better than the alternatives and most of all he is for lower taxes and more choices!!! Check him out.

By the way, no matter what happens please don't vote for Obama. He is farther left in his voting record than the Socialist senator from Vermont. His agenda will bankrupt the country and will take away a lot of choices.

I was almost to the point where I wanted to just tell everyone to vote for none of the above. It's from one of my favorite movies called "Brewster's Millions" with Richard Pryor. I've put vote none of the above as my you tube search at the bottom of my blog and there's a clip from the movie inthere somewhere. But this picture says it all.

The three candidates in the running right now will only make it worse. Ok so as of now I'm taking a break for a few months from this. It is driving me crazy and maybe a miracle will happen in the next few months that will help make the decision easier.

Well I can't wait to see a lot of you in Denver in a few weeks, and for those in Utah I'll come visit, but I just can't live in a place where they cheer for the Utah Jazz.

Someone Less Inspiring Julia Stiles

Warning. You are about to find out my political leanings. Like they were a big secret before, especially if any of you have met my brother, Jeremy.

I really don't like writing about politics, it's not as fun as the Rockies World Series blog I still need to write (I found a great video for it too), but I have been up sick to my stomach about this since Tuesday night, and I'm almost certain that I am taking crazy pills.

John McCain?!?! Really Florida?!?! John McCain of the McCain/Kennedy immigration reform bill that so many people called their representatives to oppose that the capitol's phone system was shut down?!?!

I also heard someone describe him as charismatic, and I heard him describe himself as inspiring, and that Mitt Romney was less than. Let's get this straight, his STORY is inspiring. The man? Well...you tell me if you don't think he's just a little fireball

I know it's been about a million years since I wrote last. Here's the story.
Jan. 1: I got online to write my first blog post of the new year. It was a sunny January day, which is rare for Utah, and I had the working title of "2007 was Heaven, and 2008 will be at least as good as 2007 if I'm lucky." I was so optimistic for this new year, and as I went to type that statement my computer crashed. Oh yes, it was a complete and total crash. I spent 2 weeks trying to recover files and after finally recover all the important ones this weekend I did a complete reinstall of Windows. I've almost got every program reinstalled and I'm feeling pretty good.

Anyway, this is not as good as the first post I had planned but it should satisfy those of you who have whined about me not posting. Actually that's no one. Does anyone even read this anymore?

Here's something fun for this unbelievably boring post. My favorite show that is no longer on the air. No it's not Arrested Development, although that is pretty good. It's Daisy Does America. This was probably the funniest show on TV, but it only lasted one season. So sad.
